Due to the high
price of new treadmills, many people search for ways to
enjoy the benefits of these terrific machines but pay
less money for one. Used treadmills are the answer
for these people. But, when looking for used
treadmills, there are a couple of things you should know
before making a purchase.First, there are
basically three ways to go about buying used treadmills.
First, you can buy a used treadmill from a private party
or company. These treadmills have not been
refurbished or remanufactured. They are used in
every sense of the word. With this type of
arrangement it is basically "buyer beware".
Second, you can look for used treadmills that are
refurbished. Companies selling refurbished
treadmills basically make cosmetic changes and may or
may not offer a warranty. In some cases, the
original manufacturer's warranty may still apply.
The third way to go about finding used treadmills is
to look for companies that sell remanufactured
treadmills. Oftentimes, companies will take a
"used" treadmill and completely change most of the
parts. A worthwhile, truly remanufactured
treadmill will get a new motor, electrical components,
and most moving parts. The only thing that may
remain from the old treadmill is the frame!
Used Treadmills- Which type is
right for you
Figuring out which types of used treadmills will work
for you depends on several factors. The most important
factor that will guide your decision will be price.
The remanufactured used treadmills will cost more than
the refurbished and truly "used" treadmills. This
extra cost generally buys you less headaches and a
decent warranty.
On the other hand, if you are just trying to buy the
cheapest used treadmill you can find, then the first way
will work best. Used treadmills that have not been
refurbished or remanufactured are the least expensive
available (and therefore give you the least
protection/warranty).
Used Treadmills Summary
So if you've decided that a used treadmill may be
right for you, be sure to figure out exactly which type
is more to your liking. Buying used can save you a
ton of money, typically 15%-60% versus new treadmills.
Just be sure you're also getting a machine that will
last (and not a piece of junk!)
